The Institute for Innovative Technology In Medical Education (iInTIME) meets its mission by collaborating to develop and then distribute virtual patient cases. These virtual patient cases harness the power of medical knowledge and are designed to supplement traditional clerkship teaching and patient care activities for third-year medical students.

iInTIME products are based on the premise that developing computer-assisted instruction (CAI) materials in a new way results in a CAI program living up to its potential. Comprehensive coverage of a nationally accepted curriculum, a uniform approach to CAI pedagogy, multi-institutional development by educators, and extensive evaluation by users constitutes iInTIME’s most successful means to meeting CAI potential thus addressing the underlying reasons for CAI underutilization. However, to be most effective, iInTIME products must be formally integrated into the clerkship curriculum. To assist clerkship directors throughout our subscribing area in using our products, we have developed the Instructor’s Area. This password-protected area includes essential supporting materials needed to fully integrate our products into your clerkship.

Our virtual patient cases have been widely accepted by medical educators, with use in more than 100 medical schools in the U.S. and Canada, and more than 100,000 case sessions completed by students. iInTIME products operate on a subscription model offering two ways to subscribe: as an individual, or as an institution.
