Job Description: Associate Medical Editor
Position: Associate Medical Editor
Classification: Independent contractor, part-time
Work Hours: Telecommuting possible.Standard office setting and hours of operation. Monthly collaborative meetings requiring evening/weekend hours and travel are anticipated in connection with this work.
Compensation: Negotiable, competitive, based on experience
Responsibilities: The Associate Medical Editor reports to the Senior Medical Editor working collaboratively in a team environment. iInTIME places a strong emphasis on both team-work and independence. We count on active participation from each and every team member to identify new areas for innovation as well as to continually hone existing products and services.
The Associate Medical Editor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
iInTIME PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: The Associate Medical Editor’s primary role is to assist with the development and maintenance of medical content within our virtual patient cases and related integration tools, including:
- Edit virtual patient case content to comply with the iInTIME Learning System
- Update medical information as directed by Editorial Board members
- Ensure consistent and accurate use of appropriate medical terms
- Summarize teaching points for learning resources
- Ensure that medical edits are accurately reflected in associated teaching tools
COMMUNICATIONS: The Associate Medical Editor will routinely inform senior management of his or her activity, issues, and potential issues relating to the daily operation of the company.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: The Associate Medical Editor will perform such duties in addition to project technical functions as the need arises or as senior management may request.
Knowledge: The Associate Medical Editor must possess excellent credentials and a solid understanding of postgraduate medical content. A background in writing and editing (technical or medical preferred) is necessary. The Associate Medical Editor can expect to:
- Collaborate with health care educators who are national leaders in their field.
- Gain insights about career opportunities in medicine, education, non-profit, and/or technology sectors.
- Better understand the educational needs and responsibilities of practicing health care professionals.
Skills:
TEAM ORIENTATION: The Associate Medical Editor must be willing and capable of working in a team-oriented environment possessing the ability to successfully balance independent professional demands with the demands of the project team in meeting required deadlines.
WORK ETHIC: The applicant for the Associate Medical Editor position must be detail-oriented, with a willingness and ability to learn new skills and the ability to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
OFFICE & TECHNICAL: Familiarity with general office productivity software required: Microsoft Office products, email and Internet applications. Previous experience with basic computer programs is required.
COMMUNICATION: The Associate Medical Editor must have superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with diverse populations in a professional setting against tight deadlines, continually demonstrating a commitment to exceptional customer service.
Private means of transportation is required. Light lifting required.
Minimum Requirements: Graduate level medical or health professions degree.
